We all know how important it is to keep your website secure and updated. A couple of days ago new security and bugfix versions of Drupal 6 was released. When I first saw the announcement listing both v6.18 and v6.19 I initially thought v6.19 was a panic release fixing a problem with 6.18. It wasn't until I further read up on it I discovered it was intentional.

Welcome to part two of three in my series about Drupal 7 being ready for production websites. Part one covered Drupal 7 Core and you can find a link to it at the end of this post. This time I will write about contributed modules for Drupal 7, their status and what you can expect.

A week ago I enabled Views for Nutshell, which I wrote about in my Drupal 7 Views & Insert Make it Look Good post. In that post I said that I was planning to use it to make the taxonomy pages look better among other things. Well, I started on that and quickly ran into big problems.

One thing I always wondered about when it comes to Drupal is why there are no out-of-the-box setting for the size of the Body field in content types, as well as the comment textarea field. I mean, they are big (body is 20 rows for example) and take up a lot of screen space. Since they already come with a resize option it is very easy to resize them when needed.

Wow, its not often I get excited about something as boring as creating and using workflows, but the new demo video of the upcoming Mastreo workflow module, from Nextide Inc, for Drupal 7 is doing exactly that to me.

When building Drupal based websites there are some contributed modules that are more or less obligatory to install. Views is one of those. My guesstimate is that it is used on at least 95% of all live production websites, if not more.
Last weekend I finally got around to enable it for Nutshell, as well as create a much better looking homepage. To complement it I also installed the Insert and Image Resize Filter modules to make it easier to embed photos and illustrations in the content. I'm sure you agree that it has made my post come alive much more.

A few days ago I had a discussion with a friend that is on the market for a new website for his company. His main experience with websites are surfing the net and using web applications such as Gmail. When the discussion went into how much work would be involved and long it would take to build it, he couldn't really get around that it would take as long as I told him. I had to come up with an analogy to make him understand what is going on behind the pages he is looking at when browsing.
