Drupal Gardens - Introduction and Background

Drupal Gardens went into public beta not long ago. This means that anyone now can create a site on it instantly.

This post is the first in many about Drupal Gardens. In this series I plan to cover as much as possible, from creating your first site, to going into details about the various features it offer. In this post I will give you an introduction to it, as well as what it will mean for Drupal in general.

Drupal, WordPress & Joomla - Puzzles with Misfitting Pieces

A few days ago I had a discussion with a friend that is on the market for a new website for his company. His main experience with websites are surfing the net and using web applications such as Gmail. When the discussion went into how much work would be involved and long it would take to build it, he couldn't really get around that it would take as long as I told him. I had to come up with an analogy to make him understand what is going on behind the pages he is looking at when browsing.

WordPress is Better than Drupal

I completely agree. In many aspects, such as those Jen Lampton is pointing out in the slideshow below, WordPress simply is better than Drupal. Same goes with Joomla as well.

Jen starts by comparing numbers, showing that WordPress has more installations, more modules, more themes and a much larger community. Then she goes on with telling you why its better, what Drupals problems are and rounds off with what the Drupal community needs to focus on.

Healthy Competition Between Drupal, WordPress & Joomla

WordPress 3.0 has been released and the platform war is starting again.

I have already seen several articles comparing it with mainly Drupal, but also Joomla. Then of course we get to the comments where it is like going back in time to battles between Amiga and Atari users. It was fun for a while, but quickly got boring when the superlatives gets out of hand and everyone loses focus.
