Google Redesigned for Gmail, Reader & Calender in New Version

The popular skin suite for Google Gmail, Reader and Calendar from Globex Design has been released in version 0.5 for the Mozilla Firefox browser. Google Redesigned is a very popular and quick way of transforming the original look into something much more pleasant. Just compare the before and after screenshots below.

All you need to do is to install an extension for Firefox and Gmail, Calendar and Reader will instantly change to use the new look. The extension will also make sure that updates to the skins are done automatically. Not only does it work with the standard applications, almost every labs extension is supported too.

Google Docs and Chrome is Coming

Globex is currently busy working on a beta version for Google Docs so that it too will have the same new look. They are also planning a version for Google Chrome. Currently Chrome is lacking some functionality that prevents it from happening. The FAQ says this:

Q: How do I get this thing to work on Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera or Safari?
A: At this time Google Redesigned is a Firefox-only extension. It will only work with browsers developed on the Gecko platform, such as Mozilla Firefox, Flock, IceWeasel, Prism etc.. The styles themselves also rely heavily on Mozilla-based CSS3 values which will not work correctly in other browsers. Once Google Chrome improves their extension engine, we plan to release a Chrome-compatible version. At this time Chrome doesn't support a lot of the necessary features required for Google Redesigned.
