New Drupal 7 Release this week

Early last week Angie "webchick" Byron posted a tweet about that we might see a new Drupal 7 release mid this week. That is now and I am starting to get a little nervous.

Why? Well, I have been running Nutshell on Drupal 7 alpha 5 for a month now, as well as enabled a bunch of contributed modules. Since we are talking about an alpha version, there are still chances things will change and break my site when I update it to the new release.

I will of course test it first in a developer environment to see how well it works, as well as making sure there wont be any issues with any of the modules I am using.

If I am lucky, everything will go well (fingers crossed), but I know I took a bit of a gamble when I decided to be brave and re-launch Nutshell on an alpha version.

Even though it will be a little nervous I am looking forward to it.

Drupal 7 Release Date Getting Closer

The last couple of weeks many critical issues have been fixed, currently down to 39 as I write this, which shows that the first release candidate is getting closer.

Many of the Drupal 7 contributed modules I have been playing with, not just those that are enabled here, shows great promise to be ready for the official release as well.

Unless some big last minute show-stopper turn up soon my prediction is that we might see a Drupal 7 RC1 released before the end of July.

What a party that will be!
