New Amiga Computer Launching!

AmigaOne X100025 years after Commodore launched the first Amiga computer, the A1000, A-Eon Technologies is launching a new modern Amiga computer.

Only about a week ago I wrote about that The Amiga will Never Die. Today I got more proof about that when I read The Inquirer's article Son of Transputer powers new Amiga box, where they talk about the new AmigaOne X1000.

I simply love enthusiasts that refuses to give up, like Trevor Dickinson the director of A-Eon Technologies, the company behind the new machine.

Who else, but real enthusiast would make a first demo of a new computer like this:

Sure, the Amiga will never conquer the world or sell in the millions again, but does that really matter? No it doesn't. I hope A-Eon sells enough machines so they make a profit and can go on and develop new models.

It is good that not everything in IT is standardised, that there still are people who believe in something so badly that they want to make a difference. Everything the original Amiga was with its multitasking, sound, graphics, and so on is now standard in every computer. I still argue that it is not even close to how well it worked on the Amiga...

To be different unfortunately comes at a price, which means that if you want to own your own AmigaOne X1000 you will have to part with more than £1,500 (€1,821 / 2,244 USD) which compared to a powerful x86 computer is a lot of money. Of course, same goes if you want to own a sports car compared to an ordinary car.

Here is another video with some more information:
