Mollom or other Spam Protection Needed on All Websites

12 days ago Nutshell received its first spam comment and I decided to install the Mollom module for Drupal 7.

Today I have looked at the statistics and Mollom has so far done a 100% accurate job.

11 Spam Attempts Blocked

So far it has blocked 11 spam attempts. Including this comment:

i want to test viagra the mollom free job money sex filter

That was the only one with real words, all others where garbage text and URL's. Someone definitely tried to bypass the spam filter, but Mollom did its job and blocked it.

Spam Filters Needed on All Websites

Of course, Nutshell is still a website with very little traffic, yet, so the the small amount of statistics I have so far doesn't really say much.

It still shows that spammers quickly find and tries to abuse new website and shows how important it is that you protect yours from day one.

If you don't then you either will have to manually delete lots of comments or risk being penalised by the search engines when their algorithms trigger on bad content on your pages.
